Ways to prepare

Preparation image
We understand that studying in the UK is an important decision. We are keen to support you and to help as you prepare. There are so many things to think about and prepare for when studying overseas.

UKCISA (UK Council for International Student Affairs), formerly known as UKCOSA, is a comprehensive source of up-to-date information, advice and support for international students coming to study in the UK. We fully appreciate the challenges, anxiety and excitement of going somewhere new. We are always happy to share our knowledge and experience of living and studying in Cornwall and the Falmouth area. Don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Working in the UK & Visas

The Department for Education and Skills has compiled a helpful leaflet covering non-UK students working in the UK:

Additional visa information can be found by visiting the UK Border Agency website. The UK Border Agency is also known as the Visa Service Office.

Emergency contact details

Many students will not have the exact details of their term-time address or their UK telephone number before leaving home - so they cannot give family or friends contact details. We are happy for you to give the International Office’s telephone number to family or friends in case they need to get in touch with you urgently – until you get yourself settled into your accommmodation. The International Office is open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am and 4pm on Friday, telephone +44 (0)1326 213794.
