UCF students sweep the board at Royal Television Society Awards

Once again, students from University College Falmouth's BA(Hons) Digital Media/Broadcasting course have swept the board at the South West Royal Television Society Awards.
At a ceremony held in Plymouth:
- Gemma Care, Adam Stocker, Rachel Hobday and Dave King won the RTS SW Drama Award with their moving drama, Joe
- Adam Townsend, Dominique Belcourt, Hayley Boone and Chris Richardson won the RTS Documentary Award with their cross-platform project, Infertility: Unlucky No7
- Polly Donnoghue's Ella, a documentary about the loneliness of a deaf Polish woman and a documentary that explored dyslexia, entitled Picture This, by Richard Blake and Dan Evans were both nominated and awarded certificates in recognition of their merits.
"Falmouth's BA(Hons) Digital Media/Broadcasting students have won both the Drama and Documentary SW RTS awards for the years 2006, 2007 and 2009, so our course is clearly a force to be reckoned with," explained Senior Lecturer, John Parker-Rees.
"University College Falmouth's School of Media continues to achieve significant success in major regional, national and international competitions," said Director of the School of Media, Paul Inman. "Entering prestigious awards schemes and working with industry partners adds a richness to the student experience at Falmouth that prepares graduates to hit the ground running and fast-track their careers. I warmly congratulate our latest batch of winners and the academic team who support them."
BA(Hons) Digital Media has evolved from UCF's highly regarded BA(Hons) Broadcasting course and brings with it a highly flexible course structure that can keep pace with the rapid changes in technology and production that typify 21st century communications industries.

University College Falmouth is the only independent Higher Education institution in Cornwall with the powers to award degrees in its own name. It has two campuses in Cornwall - at Woodlane in Falmouth and Tremough in Penryn (which it owns, and jointly manages with the University of Exeter) - and a third campus at Totnes in Devon, following its merger with Dartington College of Arts in 2008.
This merger created a new institution focusing on the expansion of Falmouth's expertise in Art, Design and Media and Dartington's expertise in Choreography, Music, Theatre, Art and Writing. The Devon-based courses will relocate to a new, high-specification Performance Centre at Tremough in 2010, paving the way for a new specialist Arts University in Cornwall by 2012/2013 that will be unique to the South West.
The College is a founding partner in the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC), a unique initiative to promote regional economic regeneration through Higher Education, funded mainly by the European Union (Objective One and Convergence), the South West Regional Development Agency, and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, with support from Cornwall Council.
