Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)

The CSFP is aimed at Commonwealth citizens who can make a significant contribution to their home country after studying in the UK. CSFP Scholarships are usually for between one and three years. They cover the cost of travel to and from the UK, tuition fees and living expenses. In some cases an allowance is paid to help with the cost of maintaining your spouse and family in the UK.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme

This scheme assists students from developing Commonwealth countries who would benefit from higher education in the UK. If you are unable to study in the UK for financial reasons, and are outside the scope of other British government support schemes, you may be eligible.

To apply for a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship you should be:

  • Of high academic calibre
  • Intending to study subjects of developmental relevance to your home country
  • Under 35 years old at the time your course starts
  • Able to speak fluent English
  • Not employed by your government or an international organisation
  • Resident in a developing Commonwealth country.

The De Souza Trust Goa - Undergraduate and Postgraduate level

The scholarship funded from the estate of Mr Diego Frank de Souza aims to provide financial assistance for self-motivated, dynamic young people of Goan origin/those holding Goan domicile to study or train in the UK.

Since the introduction of the scholarship in 1998, several Goan students have successfully completed their studies in subjects as diverse as Media Management, Architecture, Education, Computing & Design, TV documentary, Music Therapy, Fashion Technology, Architectural Conservation and Human Rights, Communication Systems and Signal Processing, and Innovation Technology and the Law.

What do the scholarships cover?

  • Full or part tuition fees
  • Student visa for the UK

Please note: All other costs are to be covered by the student.

Eligibility criteria

The applicant should be:

  • An Indian citizen with a valid Indian passport and residing in India at the time of applying for the scholarship
  • Resident in Goa or born of Goan parents
  • Not more than 30 years old at the time of applying for the scholarship
  • A graduate and have an excellent academic track record and extracurricular achievement
  • Have confirmed admission for any academic course of study in the UK for up to one year

Please note:

  • If short-listed, candidates will be requested to submit further documentation, after the initial application
  • Short-listed candidates will be invited for personal interviews, in Goa, in the June before the start of your course. All costs related to the interviews, such as travel and accommodation, will have to be borne by the candidate.

Inlaks Scholarships - Postgraduate only

Inlaks Scholarships provide the opportunity to young people with exceptional talent in any field to broaden their vision abroad and improve their skills to operate in society, thus making them a future vehicle of change in their environment. Some key points include:

  • Applicants must be under the age of 30 in the July of the year of application
  • Only open to Postgraduate applicants
  • Students must have secured a place on their chosen course of study

Application forms are usually available from between mid-January and April each year.  Please check the foundations website for full details.
