Our working and learning environment

The quality of our teaching, student experience and working environment makes University College Falmouth an increasingly attractive international destination. Our community of students, academics and staff is diverse, representing numerous cultures and backgrounds. We believe that diversity supports excellence in learning, teaching and working experiences, and that it provides students for a future world of work in a globalised economy.

University College Falmouth offers a distinctive experience: a safe friendly environment in an area of outstanding beauty. The County of Cornwall is home to a vibrant creative arts scene and boasts a spectacular natural environment defined by beautiful land and seascapes. We have outstanding, purpose-built Art, Design, Media and Performance facilities that enable students and staff to use cutting edge technologies or traditional techniques.

UCF is an innovative place and encourages students and staff to develop ideas and practice across disciplines. UCF has a well-earned reputation as one of Britain's premier specialist university colleges; ranked as one of the UK's Top 40 universities by The Guardian. Our levels of student satisfaction are at an all time high and we have an ongoing commitment to further enhance the student experience.

We have partnerships both in education and in enterprise that support students and staff in embedding international perspectives in their learning and working experience.

Academic quality and choice

UCF is a vibrant, innovative community of thinkers, makers and doers who are turning heads on the national and international creative and higher education scenes. Highly talented, ambitious, motivated, free-thinking and entrepreneurial people converge here to study, teach, work, explore, collaborate and challenge established thinking in a supportive, unique and stunning environment.

Learning and teaching

We're committed to enhancing the student experience. Our learning and teaching team works with all academic and associated staff to develop innovative and effective teaching practices to support student success. Our educational development lecturers work directly with students, offering advice on how best to navigate the Higher Education environment, and use the experience and knowledge they gain through these interactions to influence the broader learning environment to benefit everyone.

Collaboration

Falmouth's courses and facilities are configured to promote interdisciplinarity and collaborative learning. You'll have plenty of opportunity to conceive and devise projects with students on other courses, leaving as part of a network of multi-skilled practitioners that moves seamlessly into the professional sphere.

Enterprise

Our wealth of connections with some of the country's leading practitioners, businesses and cultural organisations enables us to pull the outside world in and situate much of our learning ‘out there'. Industrial and educational partnerships, community ventures, applied research enquiries, commercial projects, start-up enterprises and professional placements are an integral part of studying at Falmouth. Many of our lecturing staff are active and respected practitioners in their respective fields - strengthening our ties to industry and subject practice.

International links

Opportunities to experience different ountries and cultures are plentiful at Falmouth, with exchange programmes and partnerships operating in both Europe and further afield, including Canada, Japan and Australia.
