International exchanges

La Salle, Singapore, exchange cohort 2009

Overview

Our International Office supports students wanting to broaden their university experience by studying or working in another country.

Erasmus is a European exchange programme that enables students in 31 European countries to study for part of their degree in another country. Study outside Europe is possible at one of our international partner institutions through the Study Abroad programme. The length of stay depends on your course. Academic credit is agreed between UCF and your host institution and these credits are then translated back into your degree.

We also welcome students from our international partner insitutions who would like to study at UCF as part of the Study Abroad programme.

A full list of our international partner institutions can be found below.

More information about the Erasmus programme and our European partner institutions can be found here

History of our international relationships and opportunities

Our Departments of Art, Design, Media and Writing have built strong links with Western and Central European HE Institutions. Current and active Bilateral Agreements with Universities and HE Institutions are established in Belgium, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands and Turkey. We also have international Bilateral Agreements with Australia, Japan and Canada.

In recent years the links with Central and Eastern Europe have been developed and supported by the inclusion of these countries in the Socrates Erasmus programme. Our Department of Performance has current and active Bilateral Agreements with Universities and HE Institutions in Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Hungary and Lithuania.

A Socrates funded Intensive project, 'Devising for Live Performance', was hosted by our Department of Performance. This was an extremely successful event with 14 European colleges, universities and professional organisations taking part in workshops, performances, presentations, lectures and 'talkshops'. The event, its documentation and dissemination, was particularly useful for curriculum development within the participating Institutions and in a number of other Higher Education Arts Institutions throughout Europe and the USA.

The Department of Performance has also completed a Grundtvig project co-ordinated by the University of Graz, which developed a Lifelong Learning project, 'Theatre in Social Fields'. We contributed through teaching expertise, experience in the field, student collaboration, and by organising the documentation and dissemination of this work. The second phase of the project was called 'Theatre Work in Social Fields European Research' (TWISFER), involving us in a distinctive research project, in collaboration with Exeter Youth Offending Team, called 'No Fear Theatre for Wicked Kids'.
