    FXU Awards 2012 Students donned their finery to celebrate their contribution to the wider community at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall on Thursday 1 March. The ceremony was the first of its kind to be planned by FXU, the combined Students' Union for University College Falmouth and the University of Exeter in Cornwall, to recognise achievements in a wide range of areas from sporting prowess to supporting others and fundraising for local charities.

The award will continue to celebrate the best writing for stage, screen and radio with writers having the chance of winning £6,000, a £3,000 increase on previous years.

    Entrance board for 26 Treasures at the V&A, LondonAlumni and students from Falmouth's MA Professional Writing are among the writers involved in a high-profile exhibition and book project. The project, 26 Treasures gives voices to objects in major museums around the UK and is in the last stages of gaining crowd source funding for the publication of its book.

    MA International Journalism graduate Polly FieldsUniversity College Falmouth MA International Journalism graduate Polly Fields took top prize for her radio piece "The Speed Sisters" at the Broadcast Journalism Training Council annual awards which have just been officially announced.   Polly travelled  to the West Bank town of Ramallah as part of her  MA Project about a group of women there who have defied many middle eastern  traditions  to take part in the male dominated sport of motor racing.

    Entry requirements through the university sector include Honours Degrees, Foundation Degrees and HNDs in the arts or related practice, and a desire to develop work further within an environmental context. However, as a trans-disciplinary course, applicants who have previously studied an environmental subject are welcome to apply.

On this challenging, hands-on course designed by industry professionals, you’ll create advertising from your very first week and become adept at visual and verbal communication through practical, studio-based learning. Simulating the advertising industry, you’ll work in art director/copywriter partnerships to devise campaigns for real products in a wide range of media, resulting in a thorough and professional portfolio.

From idea conception to delivery, you’ll learn how to work to a client’s brief and how to present your ideas effectively. The course’s membership of Design & Art Direction (D&AD), the industry’s most influential educational body, allows students to exhibit work at the New Blood competition, meet key industry figures, and maybe even win a coveted Yellow Pencil, whilst workshops and placements at top agencies will equip you with the contacts and understanding to win the job you want post-graduation.

Entry requirements and how to apply

Entry requirements through the university sector include Honours Degrees, Foundation Degrees and HNDs in a related subject. If you have solid professional industry experience rather than academic achievement, this may be acceptable for entry to study at this level through a process called APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning). Interview and selection process

Along with your application form you will need to send us at least three other pieces of creative work and answer the creative brief (below). Your creative work samples can be anything you feel is appropriate such as creative writing, photographs, videos, drawings, films, 3D work.

Once you have applied the course team will assess your application and if we think you have the potential to study at Falmouth we will invite you to an interview. We would really like to see you in person but we can hold a telephone interview if this is not possible. Where possible we like to interview at our postgraduate open days, but we do hold interviews throughout the year.

Graduates from our postgraduate creative advertising course are employed worldwide by agencies such as M&C Saatchi, agency.com, DDB, Euro RSCG, 180 Amsterdam, Bartle Bogle Hegarty Singapore, Ogilvy One, Albion as well as in-house advertising units at companies such as The Guardian and Channel 4 Television.
