The course delivers the multimedia skills and expertise required for working in radio, television, online and cross-platform newsrooms. It's aimed at aspiring journalists who want to work in local, regional or national news.

You get hands-on-experience of producing and presenting TV and radio programmes in real time. This involves making contacts, interviewing live guests, researching and writing news, as well as using the latest online and social media techniques that journalists require in a dynamic multimedia environment. You also get a thorough grounding in media law, media ethics and regulation, and UK politics.

You learn from industry professionals who give you the advice and training you need to get the jobs where you want. Work placements are arranged across the industry in local BBC and independent local radio newsrooms, national television current affairs outlets like BBC Panorama and independent production companies.

Our many graduates include Fergus Walsh (BBC medical correspondent), Lorna Dunkley (Sky News presenter), Alicia McCarthy (BBC Parliament senior broadcast journalist), Dan Rivers (CNN senior international correspondent), Alison Mitchell (BBC Five Live sports presenter and commentator), Angus Walker (ITV China correspondent), and Rob Walker (BBC sports reporter, presenter and commentator).
