An Artonomy mixed exhibition which runs until March 1 in Truro will see over thirty artists showing their work, some that have previously exhibited with Artonomy and also introducing talented new artists and ceramicists.
Introducing Thomas Smith who has a studio based in Mylor Bridge, Thomas did his Fine Art BA (Hons) at Falmouth College of Arts and since leaving in 2005 has exhibited locally and was invited to the Summer Show at Edgar Modern Fine Art in Bath. Partner, Elaine Hayman at Artonomy said We noticed his work over a year ago and are extremely pleased to be showing a small collection of his new work as a newcomer to the gallery.
Also showing for the first time are Kathy Wray and Elisa McLeod. Kathy is still studying at Falmouth on the Illustration MA course, her work is very expressive, passionate and sensitive, she often uses herself as a model,.

Kathy said: "I explore natural abilities in movement and drawing by capturing figurative forms and emotions that are experienced through dance movement and the body. My practice is a performance and reflection of myself - I work from reflections in the mirror and photographs as well as using other people as models."
Kathy also works with printmaking, collograph, dry point and monotype combining photography, which will be on display.
Elisa McLeod has a studio at Redruth Grammar School now called Krowj. Born in London she is currently living in Penryn. She gained her BA (Hons) Fine Art Degree (First) from University College Falmouth 2005.
"I paint anonymous but familiar places, encouraging the idea that my work is more about a way of seeing than a description of a specific place. The contrast between translucent layers and thick heavy brush marks helps to create hidden subtleties so that the more you look the more you see, an idea that I truly value in my work," she said.
In 1999, Jamie Boyd also studied for a degree at Falmouth College of Arts and he stayed there to complete an MA . He is exhibiting several of his new landscapes from a recent trip to New Zealand, alongside one of his Dockland series from his recent residency at Falmouth Docks. Jamie lives and works in Falmouth but as well as exhibiting locally he has exhibited nationally and internationally, in both solo and mixed exhibitions.
Based on first hand observation, his paintings are concerned with effects of the changing light on the colour and tone of the river, land and sky. Seeking to capture the landscape as it appears in a fleeting moment Jamie works rapidly in oil or in watercolour .
Also choosing the medium of watercolour is Jacqueline Rizvi, born in Yorkshire 1944, Jacqueline studied painting and art history at the Polytechnic, Regent Street and Chelsea School of Art. Elected member of the New English art club, Royal Watercolour Society and Royal Society of British Artists.
Jacqueline's evocative and carefully composed still life arrangements are also a testament to her skill as a master watercolourist and draughtsman. She has exhibited extensively and has works in major collections including the British Museum and the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London.
Other artists exhibiting include; Amy Albright, Louise Balaam, Mark Dunford, Martin Goold, Marcelle Hanselaar, Francis Hewlett, Phil Hogben, Ashley Hold, Jeremy King, Sophie Levi, ,James Lloyd, Arthur Neal, Martin Roberts, Simon Ripley,Jeremy Scrine, Ilric Shetland, Jason Walker, Cathy Watkins, Charlotte Williams and Nicholas Charles Williams.
Local ceramicists and members of The Cornwall Ceramics and Glass Group, Barry Marshall, Nicky May and Helen Jay will be displaying in gallery one, the largest of three rooms in the neo - Georgian building, previously a theological library for Truro Cathedral. The gallery is next to Truro bus station in Green Street.
