Dott CornwallUniversity College Falmouth is working closely with the Design Council on Design of the Times (DOTT) Cornwall; a programme where professional designers work. with stakeholders and communities to tackle social, economic and environmental issues from the bottom up.

Work by Chris Tozer, Graphic Design MA graduate

Built around four key areas of focus; ‘Discovery, Spark, Beauty and Performance’, you’ll learn how to challenge your existing ways of working with ‘provocateurs’ from outside the world of Graphic Design, as well as key industry professionals and staff, encouraging and provoking you so that you can develop an original and independent body of work. This, along with the critical understanding and presentation skills you’ll acquire, will ensure your work really stands out in the world of professional design.

Recent ‘provocateurs' include the world renowned designer and thinker Bruce Mau and his Toronto team, Brigadier Rob Weighill of the first Armoured Cavalry Division, just back from deployment in Iraq and Jim Sutherland from consultancy ‘Hat-trick; one of the top three creative UK companies (Design Week survey).

Other visitors include the actor and writer Luke Sorba and installation artist Andrew Shoben from Grey world. Andrew's work, celebrated worldwide, and truly extraordinary in its inventiveness and execution has been described as a "hybrid mix of artist, designer, urban planner and musician".

Further provocative experiences await our students with projects and lectures from Sue Hill and the Eden Project, David Kester; CEO of the Design Council and John Neilson; letter designer and craftsman.
