Media at University College FalmouthUniversity College Falmouth is recognised as one of the UK leaders in the delivery of high-quality, practice-orientated media education and training. Competing with over 100 other universities and colleges, we've recently been awarded Skillset Academy status, which brings with it an incredible new range of opportunities for our students. In particular, the accrediting body (representing the UK's audio visual industries) recognised our close collaborations with media businesses, an excellent staff base of media practitioners and academics attracted to Falmouth because of its reputation, and the quality of technical resource that's thought to be one of the most impressive in the country.

Our Media courses have close working links with the BBC, ITV Westcountry, TwoFour Productions and Denham Productions (who have offices at our Tremough Campus). Visitors to the University College have included former BBC Director General, Greg Dyke; film director, Ken Loach; and Managing Director of ITN, Robin Elias. Our students have also won prestigious competitions like the Royal Television Society Awards.

Literary agents, TV executives and bestselling authors visited Falmouth for the re-launch of www.profwriting.com. Developed by our MA Professional Writing course team, profwriting.com helps aspiring writers to develop their work and launch a career. This short film features interviews with high profile figures from the world of writing including John Yorke, BBC Controller of Drama Production and New Talent, who came to the launch of the new-look website on 22 January 2010.

Notable Quotes

Media at University College Falmouth“In my wildest dreams I wouldn’t have believed that I would ever be in a position to make my own show, and the course at Falmouth made it happen. I was always very ambitious and determined to direct within two years of graduating, and I realise now that I learnt everything that I needed to know to make that happen whilst I was on this course.”
Matt Clifford, Television Production course graduate, creator of The Joy of Decks for Channel 4.

“Almost as soon as I started working, I realized how well the Television Production course had prepared me. Compared with colleagues who had recently graduated from other courses the range and breadth of what I learned at Falmouth and the Television Production course, far outshone the courses offered elsewhere.”
Danny Searle, Broadcast Journalism course graduate and Editor at Gamer TV
