  • Universities showcase creativity and lift the lid on research for the local community

    University College Falmouth and the University of Exeter, who share and jointly manage the Tremough Campus in Penryn, will be showcasing creativity, originality and ground-breaking research in all sorts of ways for the local community and visitors to the town to enjoy between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 19 May 2012.

    Penrice College - UK Recruitment & Outreach Photography Schools WeekFour Cornish schools and colleges visited University College Falmouth's Tremough Campus to take part in a series of photography workshops led by the UK Recruitment & Outreach team and student ambassadors.

  • Students uncover 200 years of photographic wonder

    A Photograph taken with a beer can28 BA(Hons) Photography Level 1 Students from University College Falmouth have been teaching 100 primary school children to discover the fun and wonder of old and new photographic processes. The resulting images will be shown in an exhibition that opens on Monday 30 April on the Tremough Campus.
  • Digital Animation programme leader to deliver keynote speech, China

    Programme Leader for Digital Animation, Andy Wyatt, will deliver a keynote speech at the Sino-UK Forum on Animation Talent Development, Hangzhou, China on 28 April. The forum will explore the nurturing and development of talent within the animation field.

  • Alumnus shortlisted in 2012 Sony World Photography Awards

    James Williams by Tom DymondCongratulations to BA(Hons) Press & Editorial Photography alumnus, Thomas Dymond, who was shortlisted in the category People for the 2012 Sony World Photography Awards. The work shortlisted was of Chairman of the Board of Governors, James Williams, taken during his role as High Sheriff of Cornwall.

  • MA Multimedia Broadcast Journalism Graduate Wins Radio Documentary Award

    Clare SalisburyClare Salisbury, who graduated in 2011 from the MA Multimedia Broadcast Journalism course has won the Best Radio News Feature in the Broadcast Journalism Training Council's (BJTC) annual awards.

  • New term and a new cinema experience within the Media Centre

    Over the break the Media Centre cinema will receive a significant upgrade. The improvements, worth £75,000, will provide commercial cinema quality projection and sound.This will include a full HD projector as used in Vue cinemas nationwide, 7.2 surround sound, a new large wide cinema screen and acoustic curtaining.

Our Department of Media has earned a national reputation for developing creative talent and is committed to a deeper intellectual, creative and emotional understanding of media in all its forms.

Our approach to teaching encourages high energy, courage, innovation and professional skills acquisition. Students are encouraged to foster interdisciplinary collaborations throughout the Department and beyond. Specialist media buildings housing television and radio studios; cinema; photography studios; darkrooms; labs; animation studios and digital post-production studios support our commitment to media specialisms.

Experienced academic and technical staff are strongly networked within the industry and our active links with leading regional and national media institutions including galleries, museums, broadcasters, publishers, production companies and film studios reflect our commitment to preparing students for sustainable professional careers. The Department of Media was one of the first institutions in the UK to be recognised as a Skillset Media Academy.
