UCF's Master celebrations

The shows entitled, You Are Here in Cornwall and mashow08 in Devon will be the public's first opportunity to see the College's newest and brightest stars to graduate display an exciting range of work across from the College's art, design, media and performance-based Masters degree courses.

The Woodlane campus in the heart of Falmouth will host the Cornwall exhibition and will feature an unusual and diverse range of work from students completing their Masters in Fine Art: Contemporary Practice, Illustration: Authorial Practice, Photography, 20th Century Art & Design: Histories and Theories, Interior and Landscape Design, Textile Design, 3D Design, Broadcast Journalism, Creative Advertising, Professional Writing and Television Production.

sophies_choice_sophie_mcilwain.jpgThere will also be an opportunity for prospective students and visitors to view the extensive range of facilities at the Tremough campus on Friday 5 September from 10am to 4pm at the Postgraduate Fair.

Woodlane will also host the beginning of the celebrations with an open evening on Friday 5 September from 6pm to 10pm. Everyone is welcome and visitors will be able to enjoy a sumptuous BBQ, using fresh local produce with musical entertainment before exploring the diverse array of work in the open studios.

At the Dartington campus from 25-27 September, there will be a full programme of performances, exhibitions, events and screenings, with work representing graduating students on MA Performance Writing, MA Devised Theatre, MA Choreography, MA Arts Management, and MA Arts and Ecology.

The festivities will be launched on Thursday 25 September in the evening at the Marquee Cafe, at 7pm. Earlier that afternoon MA Arts and Ecology student Timothy Vize Martin's project involving walking from London will culminate with his arrival at 4pm at Dartington. Installed work will be on show throughout the day, with live events to close the evening.

In April 2008, University College Falmouth merged with Dartington College of Arts to create a new institution focusing on the expansion of Falmouth's expertise in Art, Design and Media and Dartington's expertise in Choreography, Music, Theatre, Art and Writing.

The merger will pave the way for a new specialist Arts University in Cornwall in 2012, creating a Higher Education institution unique to the South West.

University College Falmouth is a founding partner in the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC), a unique initiative to promote regional economic regeneration through Higher Education, funded mainly by the European Union (Objective One), the South West Regional Development Agency, and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, with support from Cornwall County Council.
