Rory Sutherland speaks to Creative Advertising students

Rory Sutherland came to Falmouth to talk to MA Creative Advertising students from the College and other members of the Cornwall Skillset Media Academy. The talk also attracted quite a selection of students and staff from other disciplines.

His highly informative presentation kept everyone entertained for almost two hours.  His string of anecdotes, YouTube videos and observations on the world of advertising all highlighted quite serious points about the way media is changing and how advertisers should approach these new opportunities.

Redefining how the 4 Ps of Marketing (Product, Price, Place and Promotion) morph into Experience, Exchange, Everywhere and Evangelism; Rory explained that advertisers now need to consider their target audience not only as a "who" but also as a "where" and "when".  Rory asked the question "Will they be viewing your ad on their mobile phone? On the internet? Sitting on a bus or bored in the office?"  He answered the question with examples to highlight these ideas - featuring everything from exploding whales to Easyjet.

The lecture left everyone thoroughly entertained, informed and most definitely googling his Blog  for a constant source of inspiration.
