Prime time for graduates
A diverse selection of innovative work produced by three of this year’s graduates from University College Falmouth has been snapped up by a leading independent fine art publishing house.
Work produced by David Penzer and Rebecca Fierek, graduates from BA(Hons) Illustration, and Jenny Brough a graduate from BA(Hons) Photography, caught the eye of Prime Arts who visited University College Falmouth’s recent Summer Shows, an exhibition of work by graduating students from the College’s art and design-based undergraduate courses.
Prime Arts is a major international fine art publisher based in Bath, with 20 years’ experience of producing prints, arts greeting cards and limited edition prints. The Prime Arts collection showcases, and actively promotes, the work of contemporary photographers, painters, illustrators, mixed media, and computer-based graphic artists.
Each of the selected graduates will have their work displayed at the Prime Arts Gallery in Bath as well as on their website which has an interactive online gallery with supporting artist biographies.
“Each year our art team painstakingly visits and reviews hundreds of university and college degree shows, and exhibitions throughout the country,” says Prime Arts Director, Annette Eason. “The high standard of work produced at University College Falmouth has been unmatched by any other university or college in the UK.”
David Penzer’s ink and gouache depictions of urban life, Citydpz and Killertext, will shortly be published and reproduced by Prime Arts. Rebecca Fierek’s beautiful butterfly illustration will be reproduced as a fine art print and greeting card, as will Jenny Brough’s photographic exploration of the structural aesthetics of exotic flowers, Edge of Night.
“Having my photography published by Prime Arts makes all the hard work and effort that I put into the undergraduate course at University College Falmouth seem so worthwhile,” says Jenny Brough. “In terms of raising our industry profiles, this is an immeasurable step in the right direction.”
Prime Arts also currently reproduces art work by University College Falmouth graduates from 2005 – Ruth Brown from BA(Hons) Fine Art for her Shopping For God series of paintings, Lauren Bishop from
BA(Hons) Illustration for her striking fashion illustrations and Rachel Fearnley from BA(Hons) Photography for her images of life beneath the ocean.
“Prime Arts is committed to supporting experienced and up-and-coming talented artists, bringing their work to wider recognition and availability,” adds Annette Eason. “We work in close collaboration with our artists to ensure both the highest degree of accuracy to the original artwork, and their progression with media and PR support.”
