No trip to London this weekend would be complete without visiting Making It Digital, an exhibition of collaborative projects from 10 designer-makers from London and Cornwall as part of Hidden Art Open Studios

However, if your thoughts are a little closer to home, you can join Hidden Art Cornwall and view Making It Digital on Thursday 18 December from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro's River Street.

Funded by the Arts Council, Making it Digital is part of Hidden Art's wider Innovative Routes to Market programme, designed to address the difficulties designer-makers face to develop and get a new product to market. The project recognises that many designer-makers are locked out of the innovation revolution and are not accessing the available technologies, such as digital manufacturing, new materials and production processes.

In order to address these issues, Making it Digital enabled 10 designer-makers from London and Cornwall to work with Autonomatic, University College Falmouth's 3D Digital Production Research Cluster, in order to explore the potential of digital technologies in their practice and access the digital equipment at the college. Participants worked individually or as part of collaborative partnerships.

Charlotte Tangye, Nick Fraser, Sharon Bishop, Daisy Dunlop, Journeyman Furniture, Hannah Maughan, Ismini Samanidou, Gary Allson, from Hidden Art Cornwall and Mise en Plis and Anthony Roussel from Hidden Art London will be showcasing their work ranging from innovative new furniture to jewellery and interior products - just in time for Christmas!

Hidden Art Cornwall is a membership organization that promotes and supports designer-makers, offering companies and members of the public access to original design. Hidden Art Cornwall is a social franchise of Hidden Art in association with University College Falmouth.

So, join Hidden Art Cornwall at the Private View of Making It Digital in London on Friday 5 December from 6pm-9pm at Unit 12, Broadway Market Mews, Broadway Market, London.  Show opens Saturday 6 December from 10am to 6pm and Sunday 7 December 11am to 5pm.

In April 2008, University College Falmouth merged with Dartington College of Arts to create a new institution focusing on the expansion of Falmouth's expertise in Art, Design and Media and Dartington's expertise in Choreography, Music, Theatre, Art and Writing.

The merger will pave the way for a new specialist Arts University in Cornwall in 2012, creating a Higher Education institution unique to the South West.

University College Falmouth is a founding partner in the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC), a unique initiative to promote regional economic regeneration through Higher Education, funded mainly by the European Union (Objective One), the South West Regional Development Agency, and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, with support from Cornwall County Council.
