tim_marlow_curator_white_cube_london.jpgThe first event in the series will feature renowned broadcaster, art historian, writer and Director of Exhibitions at White Cube, Tim Marlow in conversation with Dr Virginia Button, a former curator of the Turner Prize and now Course Leader of UCF's recently-launched MA in Curatorial Practice. This will take place at 5.30pm on Friday 14 November.  Talking about his various roles in the media and the art world, their discussion will focus on the mediation of art in the public and private sectors.

"Tim Marlow's expertise cuts uniquely across the worlds of broadcasting and the visual arts and his approach to the mediation of art to a wider audience is inspiring," comments Virginia Button.  "He also works closely with artists at one of London's leading private contemporary art galleries and it will be interesting to hear his views on how the role of the curator is changing." she adds.

Bart van der Heide, who is the curator of the Cubitt Gallery in London, will take to the podium on Tuesday 25 November at 6pm to talk about Heimo Zobernig's work and current exhibition at Tate St Ives, as well as the wider histories of appropriation art and context-specific practice. Heimo Zobernig has exhibited extensively all over the world since the 1980s, creating a considerable body of work that includes sculpture, video, painting, installation, architectural intervention and performance.

Navigating Digital Geographies is the title of the third event - a lecture that will be delivered by Augustus Casely-Hayford who is the Chief Executive Officer of cultural development agency, Zamyn. Sponsored by the Cornwell Charitable Trust, this will take place at 5.15pm on Monday 8 December and his theme will be how digital developments will help to create new audiences for a wide range of cultural activities.

"It is testament to University College Falmouth's standing in the creative arts arena that we can attract such high profile speakers," concludes Virginia Button. "These opportunities also greatly enhance the student experience."

Free tickets to these events are available from The Poly in Church Street, Falmouth or from FXU Offices on campus.
