BA(Hons) English Reunion 2008

This year University College Falmouth will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of the BA(Hons) English with Media Studies degree. Over the last decade, the course has grown from a small part time course to one of the largest undergraduate departments at the institution, with over 200 full time students currently studying either English with Media Studies or English with Creative Writing.

We are inviting graduates of both courses to return to the College's Tremough Campus for a one-off summer reunion party on Saturday 21 June 2008, which also coincides with the Summer Shows. At this event, a selection of this year's graduates will be presenting a small showcase of work, and we will also be celebrating the official launch of our student anthology: ‘WITH' magazine.

"I am very excited about seeing our graduates again" said Nigel Kingcome, BA(Hons) English with Media Studies, Course Leader. "University College Falmouth has changed dramatically over the past ten years, and the success of the English degrees and its students have played an important role in its success." He added, "The day promises to be quite an emotional experience for staff and graduates alike and we are delighted to have this opportunity to see them all again."

English Reunion 2008Following the showcase, a foot tapping jazz band will welcome alumni into the beautiful Italian Garden of Tremough House for drinks, a barbeque and party.

In April 2008, University College Falmouth merged with Dartington College of Arts to create a new institution focusing on the expansion of Falmouth's expertise in Art, Design and Media and Dartington's expertise in Choreography, Music, Theatre, Art and Writing.

The merger will pave the way for a new specialist Arts University in Cornwall in 2012, creating a Higher Education institution unique to the South West.

University College Falmouth is a founding partner in the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC), a unique initiative to promote regional economic regeneration through Higher Education, funded mainly by the European Union (Objective One), the South West Regional Development Agency, and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, with support from Cornwall County Council.
