The work of second year BA(Hons) Digital Animation student Tim Wheatley, Cyclotrope was highly commended in the Eye Toons Spider Eye Animation Award for the best UK animated short film. Within two days of the film being posted online, it had attracted thousands of viewers, including the creative team at world leading advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi who then employed Tim as animation consultant. To see Tim's film Cyclotrope visit  vimeo.com and to see the finished film based on Tim's animation, www.behance.net

BA(Hons) Film students who had worked on a two week shoot of the feature film Weekend Retreat were thrilled to hear that it had won The Delabole Slate Golden Chough Award for best capturing the spirit of the Festival. Weekend Retreat was directed by Brett Harvey with the work placement students taking key roles in the camera, editing, sound, art and production departments.

Simon Harvey, Lecturer on Film and Co-Producer of Weekend Retreat said; "The BA(Hons) Film students from University College Falmouth who worked on Weekend Retreat as part of the work placement scheme were hugely beneficial to our project and I would not hesitate to offer them the highest possible recommendation for future work within the film industry."

On the final night the cinema audience was treated to the official premier screening of Will Coleman's Tamara, winner of the 2011 Govyn Kernewek Cornish Language short that was shot and edited by BA(Hons) Film alumni, Joseph Henderson and Gary Bowyer respectively. Gary became involved with Tamara following the success of his film Queensway that won best short film at the Southend Film Festival 2011.

Across the three days of the Festival BA(Hons) Film alumni and staff appeared in force, with 18 shorts screened from UCF in addition to the shorts screened by winners of the 2010 Big Pitcher competition Joey Beard, Sam Normington & Kjetil Gudmestad.
