Cart Macabre - a review to die for!

Cart Macabre, an immersive installation performance by Dartington graduates theatre company, Living Structures, has received a glowing review in Animations Online, the Puppet Centre Trust's online quarterly magazine, following their successful performances at Shunt in London Bridge.
Klaus Kruze, a German director, scenographer, performer and poet, who graduated with a 1st class BA Hons (2005) and Masters (2007) in Devised Theatre from Dartington College of Arts, is the co-founder of Living Structures, a multi-disciplinary collective of young artists who formed in 2007 whilst at the College.
Cart Macabre was conceived by Klaus whilst completing his Masters, and developed with core members Verity Standen, Daniela D'Emilia, Ula Dajerling, Hannah Standen and Dugald Ferguson in collaboration with over 30 contributing artists, puppeteers and performers throughout a series of three residencies - the first at Dartington where Cart Macabre was built and devised, followed by Battersea Arts Centre where they rehearsed and refined the material and finally, Shunt where they added the finishing touches and performed.
"Cart Macabre is a kind of Jungian ghost train - a whiz-crash-bang fairground ride through the collective unconscious, a fantastical exploration of the 'after-death'," said Dorothy Max Prior in her review for the magazine. She continues, "It is great to see shadow puppetry, animation and a theatre-of-objects integrated so beautifully with physical performance, site and music."

The Devon-based courses will relocate to a new, high-specification Performance Centre at Tremough in 2010, paving the way for a new specialist Arts University in Cornwall by 2012, that will be unique to the South West.
