The takeover of The Poly in Church Street, Falmouth starts with a free, private preview screening for University College Falmouth staff and students of Happy Christmas, the fourth feature film from Film lecturer Mark Jenkin, on Saturday 26 November 2011, from 7.30pm.

The film will be accompanied by an intro from Mark, and an onstage Q&A will follow the film. Shot on a Canon 5D Mk II over the course of a few months, with a story constructed in the edit, the film was begun on Jan 3rd 2011 and completed by September this year, and offers a unique model of production work flow that can work for those of you who have aspirations of writing or directing features on micro-budgets, or those shooting shorts as part of their studies. Mark has moved from shorts to features over the last couple of years, and has a lot to say about film making and methods of production, direction and distribution.

On Sunday and Monday, FilmAtFalmouth presents a double bill of public screenings of films by writer/director Ben Wheatley. Ben's first feature film, Down Terrace, will screen on Sunday 27 November at 7.30pm at The Poly, and will be followed by a Q&A from Ben and his producer Andy Starke where they will talk about making the move from TV (Ben directed Ideal, and some episodes of Modern Toss) to features. The film is superb, one of the best British thrillers in years, shot on a tight budget with a limited cast in a handful of locations.

On Monday 28 November at 7.30pm, The Poly will screen Ben's latest film, Kill List, which is produced by BA Film's friends at Warp Films - where we have placed over 20 students in an ongoing internship relationship since 2010. Critically acclaimed, and which surprised audiences at the recent London Film Festival with a bizarre third act twist, will again be followed by a Q&A with Ben and Andy who will talk specifically about this film, and their upcoming projects. These are public screenings, with entry discounted to £4 for each event to students. Tickets from www.thepoly.org

There will also be an exhibition of Quad posters and other ephemera from all of Warp Film's releases to date, which will be available to view in the Daniell Room at the venue on all three nights.
