finance.jpgThe Creative Enterprise Cornwall project, which is part-funded by the European Social Fund, is offering up to £700 financial support to postgraduate students who live in Cornwall during their studies.

Applying for the funding to support your studies couldn't be easier. It is open to all UK and EU citizens who have a term time address in Cornwall and whose work placement/project takes place in Cornwall, is for a minimum of one week, meets your course objectives and benefits a Cornish company.

This often life-changing decision to study at post-graduate level at Falmouth attracts a special kind of person who commits to studying, working and living in an environment that is vibrant, stimulating and beautiful.

"Everyone brings something different to a postgraduate course because of where they've studied before," explains Liz Matthews, who graduated from the MA television production course in 2007. "The mix of ages, cultures and backgrounds really lends itself to study, especially when a lot of what we do is team work - it's good to get different perspectives on things." There is further diversity on our post-graduate courses with many people returning to education following time in the workplace.

This year sees the launch of three new exciting MA courses at University College Falmouth. Curatorial Practice, looking at the presentation, experience and understanding of contemporary art in collaboration with Tate St Ives, Newlyn Art Gallery and visual arts commissioning agency ProjectBase; Graphic Design, aimed at individuals who already have a creative command of the design process, enabling them to develop visual communication solutions at a strategic level in an increasingly competitive market place where excellence is the norm and Professional Writing (Part-time) through distance learning where you can develop the core skills required to write effectively - whether it is fiction, direct mail copy, magazine features, screenplays or website proposals.

So if you want to work on a community art project or in art education, stretch and develop your design concepts or develop your writing, but don't want to quit the day job, these courses are for you.

University College Falmouth is a founding partner in the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC), a unique initiative to promote regional economic regeneration through Higher Education, funded mainly by the European Union (Objective One), the South West Regional Development Agency, and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, with support from Cornwall County Council.

In April 2008, University College Falmouth merged with Dartington College of Arts to create a new institution focusing on the expansion of Falmouth's expertise in Art, Design and Media and Dartington's expertise in Choreography, Music, Theatre, Art and Writing.

The merger will pave the way for a new specialist Arts University in Cornwall in 2012, creating a Higher Education institution unique to the South West.
