Welcome week

Mad hatters tea party (for Foundation students)

4.30pm Monday 12 September 2011

The Mad Hatters Tea Party is a chance for all new Foundation students to get to know their new surroundings, meet your student mentors and mingle with other new students. Feel free to bring partners, family and friends.

Meet your mentor evening (for Undergraduates)

7pm Sunday 25 September 2011

At the Meet Your Mentor evening, you will meet your student mentor and other new students from your course. This is held on the night before your induction week begins, so it's a great opportunity to get to know other students on your course and have familiar faces on your first day. You will receive an email inviting you to meet your mentor.

Every new incoming Foundation, Undergraduate and repeating student will be supported by a student mentor (a second year, where possible from your course). They will help you settle in to life here at University College Falmouth and help support you throughout the first year. Please get back to them when they contact you before you arrive. And know that you can always approach them, to ask any questions, big or small right through your first year.

More information about the Student Mentoring Scheme and HelpMe Forum can be found here

Freshers' fortnight

Various events from Monday 26 September to Friday 7 October 2011

A 'Fresher' is the British affectionate term for a new student. Freshers' fortnight will include evening events at the Tremough Stannary and the Woodlane Bar, and a variety of daytime events, activities and trips. There is also a Freshers' Fayre where different sports clubs and societies display what each club has to offer and you have the chance to sign up. Freshers' events are organised by the Falmouth and Exeter Students' Union, FXU.

Freshers' fortnight is a fantastic opportunity to meet lots of people, all of whom are in the same situation as you, so just be yourself and get involved!

For the full programme of events please visit the FXU website over the summer.

International student orientation (for Undergraduates and Postgraduates)

Wednesday 21 until Saturday 24 September 2011

This programme is packed with activities, social events, trips and information sessions to welcome you to Falmouth and to the UK. Throughout the programme we run information sessions to ensure you have details of all the advice, help and support you may need during your stay here.

As well as helping you settle into the University College environment, the orientation provides opportunities to explore other parts of Cornwall. Each year we offer trips to famous places in the region such as Tate St Ives and the coast to coast bike path.

Full details will be sent to you or you can find them on the International student orientation page
