Getting started
Here is some information to help you get the most out of the IT resources available at University College Falmouth from day one.
IT induction
Before you can make use of the IT facilities, you need to work through your Academic Services (Library and IT) online induction. The induction is available here: myaccount.falmouth.ac.uk/asinduction and is available at the end of online enrolment.
At the end of the Academic Services induction you'll be asked to agree to the computer users agreement and will then receive your campus password. These credentials will enable you to log on to The Learning Space, IT suite computers, the Wi-Fi network and, if you are staying in student residences, connect to the internet from your room.
The induction will provide details of the Library and IT resources available, and some rules and regulations you need to be aware of and observe.
IT Services are also offering some additional, free, practical induction sessions. Our friendly IT Services staff will provide a tour of our facilities, show you how to log on, how to top up your print credits and print, how to save work and access the key resources you need. We'll be able to advise you on any query that you have to get you started with using IT. To book a session, please contact the IT Service Desk on 01326 213822 or by email: servicedesk@falmouth.ac.uk
Service desk
The IT Service Desk provides support for all students and staff at University College Falmouth and University of Exeter Cornwall Campus. It is the first point of contact for all user support and technical queries relating to personal computers and their applications, as well as other hardware and software faults.
IT facilities available
Tremough Campus
The main Tremough Campus open access IT suite is part of the Learning Resource Centre in the Daphne Du Maurier building. It includes an open access suite of 60 computers, A4/A3 colour and monochrome laser printers, and A4/A3 scanners.
Woodlane Campus
In the Woodlane Campus Fox IT Suite there are 80 computers including Apple Macs and Personal Computers. The Fox IT Suite has an A4/A3 colour and monochrome laser printers, A4/A3 scanners and a photocopier for your use.
Wireless internet connection
It is possible to receive high-speed internet access with your wireless enabled laptop at our Campus Wi-Fi Hotspots. Our current Hotspot locations are: Tremough LRC, Tremough Design Centre, Tremough Bar, Woodlane Library and Woodlane Fox IT Suite.
Connecting to the internet in student residences
If you live in student residences at Glasney Village or Tuke House and have a computer with a network card and network cable, it is possible to have a free, fast continuous internet connection for the academic year. You will find more information on how to set up your internet connection in the online Academic Services induction. There are also dedicated IT staff available to help you setup your internet connection in your room when you arrive.
