Supporting the performing arts to innovate, experiment, grow and flourish in Cornwall

pdf Platform Programme (1.14 MB)

The Performance Centre at University College Falmouth (UCF), which officially opens its doors in October 2010, has been built to accommodate our performance courses and facilitate a wide variety of uses. It's all about creating conditions that support new and innovative work in the fields of Dance, Music and Theatre, and allow them to flourish. Our world class Performance courses have a respected international reputation for developing and challenging traditional boundaries within the performing arts. The Performance Centre's versatile facilities and high specification equipment have been designed and sourced with this in mind. One of the hallmark projects it will play host to is our new, year round programme of contemporary public performance in Cornwall known as Platform.

Whether it's productions from solo practitioners or groups, local, national or international companies, or UCF students, staff and alumni, Platform is about recognising and celebrating fresh approaches to performance. Platform will also continue the Dartington tradition of public performances, international and national residencies, community engagement programmes and advisory seminars. We believe in working collaboratively with partners, including The Hall for Cornwall, to develop mentoring opportunities for young people, emerging artists, organisations and companies across the region to help them enhance their practice, skills and their business.

Platform will include a celebratory launch weekend for the Performance Centre from 29 - 31 October, featuring an extensive programme of theatre, dance and music based work. These performances will showcase the achievements of students, professionals and ongoing community projects. There will also be a unique opportunity to view exhibits from our newly established Cornish Performance archive, including material relating to the highly acclaimed playwright Nick Darke, and Kneehigh Theatre Company.

Whether you're UCF students, staff or alumni, a local, national or international company, or an aspiring performing artist or group - Platform has a number of benefits for you.
