Soundart Radio

Soundart Radio logoImagine radio that, instead of numbing us to sounds, strengthens our imagination and creativity; instead of manipulating us into faster work and more purchasing, it inspires us to invent; instead of overloading us with irrelevant information and fatiguing us, it refreshes our acoustic sensitivity;..........

Soundart Radio - The community tunes in to itself.

"Cancel all plans and tune in to Soundart Radio"
Jonathan Cainer, The Daily Mail.

We encourage everyone to explore and experiment with contemporary sound and radio and nurture a sense of listening to one another. All kinds of people visit, to talk, play music and present radio shows. We open the studio door and the sounds of passing birds, conversations and traffic filter in to our broadcasts. Later this year we will switch on a more powerful transmitter and broadcast under a community radio licence. Contact us about how your organisation can get involved and to find out about the range of workshops and training we offer.

Noise of the week

Throughout July and August tune in to live shows on Fridays and Saturdays between 11am and 10pm.
Sunday to Thursday hear a different noise each week. Each week a different artist will select an audio treat for us, taking inspiration from the natural world, creating an electronic work or a time based installation. We invite submissions for new noises.

Radio as an art form?

If you are familiar with Resonance FM, the London arts-based radio station, you will know that radiomaking can be anything you want it to be and everything you don't want it to be. Few people however get the opportunity or the editorial freedom to play with radio as a creative medium.

Set-up by students in November 2006, SOUNDART Radio 87.7fm gives artists at Dartington the opportunity to cross-over onto the airwaves, to have their voice heard, to open up new audiences and of course to play the widest possible range of music.

On air always.
