Equality & diversity

Equality and diversity

We believe everyone who could benefit from our specialist academic provision should be given the opportunity to do so.

We also believe in the many educational, social and business benefits of working and studying in a diverse, multicultural environment where individuals are valued, supported and treated with respect, free from harassment and discrimination.

Our aim is to build an inclusive learning and teaching community committed to inclusion, broader opportunities, tolerance and mutual respect. Our strategic objectives include diversifying our staff demographic and widening student access, so we positively welcome applications and enrolments from people of under-represented backgrounds.

University College Falmouth's commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is also closely connected with our ambition to be a socially responsible organisation. Through sustainable community engagement and outreach, raising aspiration and widening participation, we aim to make an overall positive social - as well as environmental and economic - impact.

  • As part of the Universities That Count (UTC) programme, we are reviewing our performance against the Environment and Social Responsibility (ESR) Index - a voluntary, business-led benchmark of responsible and ethical business practice.
  • We have partnered with the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE), signing their Manifesto which pledges us to assess our current support for public engagement, and to develop a plan to work with community partners to improve it.

Policies

Our equality policies acknowledge and promote equality, diversity, access and inclusion as integral to work and study at University College Falmouth. Our Equality & Diversity Schemes and Annual Report are available for download from the link below. They are regularly reviewed and updated by the Equality and Diversity Committee, chaired by Dr Andrew Upton, Pro Rector.
