Professional Practice units give us the skills and knowledge to become a professional right from the word go, and the equipment and facilities here are some of the best, if not the best, in Europe. Greg Dennis, BA(Hons) Press & Editorial Photography

Our £7m Photography Centre is one of the best in the country, with world-class facilities for both traditional and digital photography.

A large black and white darkroom with 26 enlargers caters for dish and machine print processing, while a smaller darkroom with 11 enlargers serves both black and white and colour printing. There are rooms for wet processing, and for washing and drying film and prints. Machine processing for black and white, colour transparency and colour negative film is located in another dedicated room.

The digital suites and dedicated digital training room are the heart of digital photography in the Photography Centre. Students have access to a range of film and flatbed scanners and fully colour-managed computers, all linked to the print service room. This offers printing and mounting using high quality laser, LED and inkjet printers.

Four large, double-height studios, two with a six-metre wide infinity cove, and two smaller studios, cater for a wide range of studio-based photography using either film or digital cameras.

There are also dedicated spaces for our Press & Editorial Photography and Marine & Natural History Photography courses to meet their specialist needs.

The photography stores are the hub of the Photography Centre with a wide range of equipment available for loan. This is another learning environment, striving to replicate a professional hire company so you know exactly what to expect when you enter the photographic industry.

Falmouth also has a very good relationship with a number of important companies in the industry including Hasselblad, Nikon, Fuji and Calumet Photographic. These close links help to ensure that we provide the equipment, facilities and training to meet the requirements of the profession.
