Our Plastic Ocean
Silver, Found Plastic, Glass and Map

Holly Smith creates jewellery combining a variety of materials - her work holds a strong message with the aim of bringing awareness to the subject it explores. "Our Plastic Ocean" was created with the intent of highlighting an environmental issue in an alternative and eye catching way.

The increase of plastic in our sea is having a negative impact on our marine environment; there is now six times more plastic than Plankton in The Great Pacific Ocean. Alarming facts such as these were the main influence in the design and creation of this ring. Holly intends her work to be utilized by the wearer in order to translate this message to others.

She has created this piece from plastic washed up on beaches along the Cornish coast.
