Description:

This unit provides an understanding of the historical and cultural contexts, and the intertextual relations of crime narratives across a range of media forms. You will explore a range of critical and theoretical approaches to the issue of crime reporting and the representation of crime in the media. Subsequently, you will learn to recognize the complex interrelations between media representations of crime, public perceptions of crime and criminality, and criminal legislation and policy.

Feature, 2,000 words (40%)
2 seminar presentations (10%)
Essay, 2,500 words (50%)
