Bibliotherapy

What is Bibliotherapy?

The Counselling Service has set up the Bibliotherapy Scheme to help anyone suffering mild to moderate symptoms of anxiety, depression or a range of common emotional difficulties.

Bibliotherapy is the use of self-help books and other resources to address emotional and mental health concerns.

These materials can be used independently or alongside support from a Counsellor or Doctor, and include books, CDs and DVDs.

How the scheme works

Students and staff can borrow these resources in the usual way.

Follow the link below and take a look at short descriptions of the available resources. If you see something you think may be useful to you, you can check the online library catalogue for availability. If you are not sure, you can book a short appointment with a Counsellor to see what might suit you best. There is a copy of each resource at both Tremough Learning Resource Centre and Woodlane Library.

All of the titles are also readily available to buy on the internet or in local libraries.

Titles can be borrowed for up to 7 days, and you can renew if no-one else has requested the item.
