Amy Sampson's Storyscape

Amy Sampson, who graduated in June has been shortlisted in the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) Awards 2010 for a project completed whilst studying on the Broadcasting degree course, now BA(Hons) Digital Media.

Amy is one of only six short listed entries in the student category that covers all aspects of digital interactive projects. Her website, Storyscape is an online collection of fictional tales that invites visitors to e-mail words, pictures, sounds and videos which are then used to formulate tales of fantasy and fairytale. The final stories are then available to download in MP3 format. www.storyscape.co.uk

Amy Sampson BA(Hons) Digital Media"To be included in the finals for this year's BIMA awards is a real pleasure, this project wouldn't have happened if I didn't have such willing contributors and I'm really proud that Storyscape has been shortlisted", said Amy "It represents my idea of an interactive storytelling website and I'm really pleased that the site has been recognised by a national organisation."

Award Leader of BA(Hons) Digital Media at UCF, James Moore said; "We are delighted that Amy has been shortlisted for these highly respected awards. The Digital Media course prepares students for emerging trends in their chosen field whilst giving them the confidence to design award-winning, dynamic cross platform productions and Amy's success is testament to this."

The student category is open to full time students and can cover all interactive projects across one or more platforms. Entries are judged on their innovation, creativity and potential impact, rather than specific business results.

Cornish born and bred, Amy attended Grampound Road Primary and Roseland Community School before taking her A-Levels at Truro College. Amy is now pursuing a career in media production and in November will be jetting off to Malaysia to assist in the coverage of the Monsoon Cup, the final leg of the prestigious World Match Yacht Racing Tour.

The awards ceremony is on 25 November in Charing Cross, London. Details of the Awards and BIMA can be found at www.bima.co.uk.

UCF is the only independent Higher Education institution in Cornwall with the right to award degrees in its own name. The University College has two campuses - at Woodlane in Falmouth and Tremough in Penryn (which it owns and jointly manages with the University of Exeter).

UCF's merger with Dartington College of Arts in 2008 created a new institution focusing on the expansion of Falmouth's expertise in Art, Design and Media and Dartington's expertise in Dance, Music, Theatre, Art and Writing. The Dartington-based courses have now relocated to an impressive, high-specification £19M Performance Centre at the Tremough Campus, which launches this October.  The ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) Convergence Programme invested £12,266,667 in this development which will prepare performance students for success within the creative industries. The South West Regional Development Agency's Single Pot Fund contributed a further £3M, with the remainder being invested by the Higher Education Funding Council for England's Strategic Development Fund.

The Performance Centre is the latest phase in UCF's ambition to create a new specialist Arts University in Cornwall by 2013/2014 that will be unrivalled in the South West.

UCF is a founding partner in the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC), a unique initiative to promote regional economic regeneration through Higher Education, funded mainly by the European Union (Objective One and Convergence), the South West Regional Development Agency and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, with support from Cornwall Council.
