Our Research Performance

More than three quarters of University College Falmouth's researchers gained international recognition for excellence in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

University College Falmouth submitted to four units of assessment in RAE 2008. These submissions related to outputs produced prior to the merger of University College Falmouth and Dartington College of Arts, with University College Falmouth submitting to Art & Design, and Dartington College of Arts submitting to Music and Drama, Dance & Performing Arts as well as to Art & Design.

Particular strengths included Art & Design at Falmouth and Drama, Dance & Performing Arts at Dartington.

Five percent of Falmouth's Art & Design researchers produced research of a quality that is world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour; 25% produced research of a quality that is internationally excellent; and 55% produced research that is recognised internationally - an impressive 85% overall.

Fifteen percent of Dartington's Drama, Dance & Performing Arts researchers produced research of a quality that is world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour; 40% produced research of a quality that is internationally excellent and 35% produced research that is recognised internationally - an impressive 90% of its total submission.

Overall, University College Falmouth outperformed many of its competitors in Art & Design and Drama, Dance & Performing Arts, including a number of other coastal universities, major Higher Education institutions in the South West and creative arts specialists.
