The Shows offer an opportunity for the whole community, including potential employers, to celebrate the pioneering creativity of these final year students as they take their first steps into their chosen creative industry. Summer Shows 2008 promises to be an enjoyable and rewarding few days with pieces on show to excite and inspire as well as charm and mystify.
The Woodlane Campus, in the heart of Falmouth, will proudly showcase the exhibitions throughout its studios from its Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration and Journalism degree courses.
The cutting-edge Design Centre at the Tremough Campus will display the finest work produced by students from its Contemporary Crafts, Garden Design, Spatial Design: Interior & Landscape, Textile Design and 3D Design degree courses whilst in the brand new two-storey Photography Centre there will be exhibitions from the exciting world of Photography, Broadcasting, Film, English with creative writing and English with media studies degree courses.
"Our degree shows are treated with as much gravitas as any major public exhibition. We help our students maximise the presentation of their work, advising them how to arrange the exhibition spaces, catalogues and publicity" said Joe Coates, Course Leader of BA(Hons) Fine Art.
Show reels, screenings and film clips created and produced by graduating students from the industry-acclaimed Broadcasting and Film media degree courses will be showing throughout the duration of the Shows in the Tremough cinema.
Jeremy Whitaker, Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment said "The work on display at this year's Summer Shows demonstrates the diverse creative talent of our students across a wide range of disciplines and firmly positions the College as a centre for creative excellence in the county and beyond."
In addition to the exhibitions, and for those who will be bringing younger children, the College's Day Nursery staff will also be providing face painting along with other arts and crafts activities from 11am to 3.30pm on Saturday 21 June.
A free bus service will operate between Woodlane and Tremough from 11am to 4pm. Buses will run continuously between these times from the bus stop outside the King Charles School, Woodlane. On Saturday the bus will also stop in Penryn outside the Seven Stars public house en-route to and from Tremough.
Summer Shows 2008 are open to the public from 10am to 6pm on Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 June; from 10am to 4pm on Friday 20 June; and from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 21 June.
